Hi, and welcome to my corner of the web!

I am a lecturer with the Connected Intelligence Centre at the University of Technology Sydney, specialising in learning analytics and artificial intelligence (AI) in higher education. Working under the portfolio of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Education & Students), my research focuses on exploring novel technologies to enhance student learning experiences.

Beyond research, I play a crucial role in bridging theory and practice by working closely with educators to design and implement learning analytics and AI technologies to enhance the student learning experience, ensuring that technological innovations translate ethically into meaningful educational improvements.

I am an educator at heart. My mission? To see every student thrive in their studies, by growing in their capacities for self-regulated learning, and having a strong sense of belonging, wherever they have come from! For this, I’m leveraging human-centred learning analytics and AI to support students’ learning and agency. My position at the intersection of learning analytics, learning theory, and AI reflects my commitment to advancing both the theoretical understanding and practical applications of digital technologies in higher education. As a testament to this, my interdisciplinary team and I were awarded a “highly commended” recognition for our sustained efforts in the Student Experience category, for fostering students’ belonging in multiple disciplines through personalised feedback based on learning analytics. This accolade was part of the UTS Vice-Chancellor’s 2024 Learning and Teaching Awards and Citations, and was celebrated at the 2025 Learning and Teaching Awards Ceremony at UTS on 4 April 2025.

Outside of my institution, I am an active member of the Society for Learning Analytics Research (SOLAR), which is the key community for learning analytics, where I served on the Executive Committee from 2023-2025.

What else keeps me busy apart from work? I’m a mum of three active teens/ tween. On the weekends you’ll find me with my family out on a netball court or soccer field, where my husband Joerg and I love watching our kids play their hearts out! At other times you can find me at my other keyboard, the one with the black and white keys, just banging out some music.
